Microsoft SQL Server Consultancy - UK

Hello and a very warm welcome to our website.  Sequallity have been providing Microsoft SQL Consultancy and Training since 2005.  Our key skills, apart from the technology, are making complex database issues understandable and implementable through a methodical, logical and caring approach.

We can help with any SQL Server related problem, from hardware, creating databases to high availability and maintenance.  We can offer cover for your staff for holidays or boost your IT staff during SQL oriented projects.  We offer Advice, Implementation and Training.  Whatever you need.

SQL Server Database Performance Tuning and Optimisation is but one of our specialities. We understand how SQL Server works at a low level, thus allowing us to understand where the problem lies. Full documentation will be produced for your system, including observations and recommendations. We look at hardware, software, queries and index analysis too. We can implement or instruct your staff on making the changes. The NHS and Tesco have benefitted from our experience. One of our clients had a 46 second query and after our tuning it dropped to 0.65 seconds.

Upgrading and Consolidating are other key areas.  With the mainstream support retirement of SQL Server 2000 on the 8th April 2008 it leaves no option but upgrading to SQL 2005 or SQL 2008 when it makes its appearance.  Unless you pay the extended support fee.

We also help companies leverage the power of the new features within SQL 2005. This database release contains new and enhanced Indexed Views support. Implementing this at a clients site reduced their wait times from 20 seconds down to 0.6 seconds.

These are but a few of our experiences. We can take the team lead or project manage SQL projects. We're not just database monsters.

SQL Server

Gone are the days when SQL Server was just a relational database engine, it is now a feature-rich product steeped in complexity.  SQL has come a very long way.

This client-server database has grown to a sophisticated free edition (SQL Express Edition), encompassed mainstream data analysis (Data Warehousing, Analysis Services, Reporting Services) and has a much richer development environment attached to it (CLR, T-SQL enhancements, LINQ and Data Dude).  Microsoft wants to release a new SQL product every two years and thus increase functionality.

How can we help you?

SQL Server is now finally a proper enterprise business database.  This database software has evolved remarkably in just three version releases (SQL 2000, SQL 2005 and SQL 2008).  A database administrator needs to know database programming as well as SQL Server maintenance.  SQL Server is a database system thats come of age with real value-added features such as Data Warehousing.  We can help by custom database building and we've also got lots of DBA Administration experience.  We've also had extensive experience with Transact-SQL (T-SQL) Development.

Perhaps you need a SQL Consultant, a SQL Developer or you need a DBA Manager.  If you need any of these things, then please give us a call, we can show you how to get the best out of SQL Server.

Why can you trust Sequallity?

We have worked with both large and small clients, from single Small Business Server installations, right up to 200+ SQL Server sites such as Tesco.  We have worked for iSoft, Barclays, Phones4u, Wilkinsons, Business Objects, Greenstar, AutoTrader and the NHS amongst others.

Also we've worked with medium-sized companies such as Bravissimo, XMA Computer Products, Coldharbour Systems, Storetech, Qtac, Silverstring, Partybox and FreeIndex. But most of all, we love to help.

We have over 14 years experience in the IT industry, of which 8 years have been using SQL Server 6.5, 7, 2000, 2005 and 2008. Our Senior SQL Consultant is MCTS:SQL Server 2005 certified and has been MCDBA certified since 2002. He is MCDBA certified in SQL Server 7 and SQL Server 2000. We currently support the three main platforms, SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008 (Katmai).

SQL Server 2000 mainstream support ends in April 2008. We believe that SQL Server 2005/2008 will finally move SQL Server into the Enterprise arena. SQL Server 2000 could only really be seen as a top-end departmental database in our opinion.

SQL Server 2000 or SQL 2005/SQL 2008?

Well actually we support all three platforms.Currently our
consultants are spending their time roughly about 20/80
on Microsoft SQL 2000 and SQL 2005/2008.  We will also consider work for SQL Server 7/6.5 and 6.0 if required.  It's
because we like to help.

SQL Server 2008

Microsoft is releasing SQL Server 2008 around Q3 this year (2008) and they've also decided to switch to a two-year release cycle between the new versions of SQL Server. SQL Server 2010 anyone? However it has come to light in the database press recently that a lot of SQL Server users are considering skipping 2005 and moving straight to SQL Server 2008. Sounds like a good idea to us based on the fact that 2008 is only really a service pack upgrade to SQL 2005.  However, there are some really great features in the SQL 2008 product like compressed backups and with the delay, more features may come to light and may just make it worthwhile for some infrastructures.

Working Location

We like people, meeting people and trying to resolve the challenges that IT presents.  If you have an emergency, we prefer to dial-in remotely (VPN) to help resolve the issue.  If its project work then being on-site suits us down to the ground.  We are based in the Midlands between Birmingham, Coventry and Leicester.  We can work in London or anywhere in the UK.

Our Ethos

We believe in honesty and integrity. Trust is very important to us and we try to build this into our relationships with our clients, naturally. Our SQL Server specialists want to do an excellent job, first and foremost.  Please check out our clients page and don't just take our word for it.  Thank for listening.
